History
Originally organized in 1830, Greenford Christian Church has come a long way since its humble beginnings in an old log meeting house. In the early days, 24 members congregated to worship, learn and spread the Word of Jesus Christ. Through the years, Greenford bore witness to new ministers, weddings, funerals and the development of programs like Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. The Greenford Christian Church community continued to grow, not only in numbers, but also in faith. And it is now the thriving congregation that we know and love!
1830
the beginning
In 1830, a group of people from Green Township formed a church organization which held services in a log building west of Greenford.
1841
first building
In 1841, the first building was constructed on a lot purchased for $35.65. Membership increased and in 1865 the first Sunday School was organized.
2005
growing
The Greenford campus experienced a season of growth with the construction of our worship center and The Big Reach Center of Hope.
2018
expanding
Greenford Christian Church expanded, opening the Austintown campus on September 30, 2018.
2020
assistance
Greenford Christian Church donated $36k for emergency relief during COVID-19 through our mission partners.
